Hannes: Against the Threat from Outer Space
I had actually planned to work on something very seriously during my holiday – in a café, on the train, or in the hotel lobby. I had told my personal trainer Hannes about it beforehand – and he found the image funny, because it has something of a screenwriter about it: me, alone at a table, coffee beside me, gaze fixed gravely on the screen, while somewhere in the background the world ends.
And so I actually sat in the café, ordered coffee, opened the laptop… and wrote – entirely without a plan – the first lines of a story about Hannes. What began as a little joke turned into ten chapters full of shoulder rotations, blueberry flavour, satellite carcasses and a looming threat from outer space.
For health reasons, I sadly couldn't go on my actual holiday in September. But that is precisely what gave me the time to finish this little project from my short break.
Writing it amused me wonderfully – and now I hope you have as much fun reading it as I had typing it.
